it's been awhile since i've blogged. my plan has always been to keep this going after the wedding because i've had so much fun doing it over the past year. so now since it'll be more of a "everyday newlywed blog" i decided it was time to switch up the theme a little bit! enjoy!
the past month has been pretty uneventful compared to last year at this time! we're living the everyday life and trying to have some fun in between our work schedules. it's really not as easy as i thought but everyone says it takes awhile to get into a routine and a groove.
we're...well, I am working little bit by little bit on getting the house put together. it's coming along nicely. we've got a computer room now with a desk, some bookshelves, a treadmill, and a desk chair...finally after months of sitting on a plastic tote! more and more pictures are getting hung up on the wall thanks to my trusty level! now if we could just get the last mattress and box springs over here for the guest room, i'd feel more complete! it's a work in progress but it makes me excited when i run across something at the store that i know the "perfect spot" for!
i've been attempting to become a better cook. not that i was a bad cook before....i just never had a reason to try it! it's very hard cooking for 2 people and i am getting a little tired of all the leftovers in our fridge. i'm enjoying using our wedding gifts though! i've been saving lots of crock pot recipes...if only i had some ink to print them off with! i also need a snazzy recipe card box. one of my newest creations were these oreo creamcheese truffles.
they were pretty good but apparently johnathan's not a fan. the majority of them are sitting in the fridge. guess i'll think twice about the sweet recipes! i also made some chicken enchelada soup. i accidently combined 2 recipes into 1 but by the time it cooked for 8 hours and set overnight it was delicous and i'd definitely make it again! next i really want to try some chili. there's nothing like chili on a cold winter's day!
just this week, we had tater's "balls and claws" appointment. i was really torn on the declawing part. i knew how painful it was going to be and i hated doing it but i also couldn't stand the thought of all our nice new things getting scratched up and ruined. so, we dropped him off and picked him up today! i am so relieved that he's still the same kitty we had before and doesn't seem to be too uncomfortable! i'd heard horror stories of changed personalities afterwards! he even made some new friends at the vet! a BIG thank you to holly springs vet for their TLC for tater!
on a sadder note, we lost johnathan's dog, daisy back in january. she was about 14 years old and had been with us since the summer johnathan and i met. i still remember getting her from some people in the wal mart parking lot. she rode all the way back in johnathan's mustang and we took her for a walk around the campground. she was a tough old girl. she moved everywhere with johnathan and holly springs was her latest adventure. i like to believe that these were some of her happiest days. she had lots of room to run and play. the weather was nice and she was looking really happy and healthier than she had in awhile. it was just her time to go and she joins my kitty, lucky in pet heaven. we'll miss you daisy!!
i'll try to stay a little more up to date with my postings! it's harder to find things to blog about these days! anyone have a party they want me to plan?? :)
