tossing around ideas

bridesmaid, jenn and i had an outing today.  after lunch we went to barnes n noble so she could look for some books and we somehow ended up on a bench with a stack of wedding magazines between us!

we had lots of fun tossing around different ideas and even finding things that jenn liked.  What girl doesn't dream about her wedding day?  here's a little bit of what we thought up!

we liked the idea of cupcakes.

we also like how you can have different themed cupcakes on each tier.

jenn LOVES anything pirate themed.  i think this would be perfect for her!

being a southern girl...jenn likes the idea of parasoles!  so do i!  especially if they're pink!

the rehearsal dinner

we've booked the rehearsal dinner!  it will be at rucker john's in emerald isle.  if you're from there, greenville, or wilmington then you've heard of it!  it's probably johnathan and my favorite place to eat down there.  i always get the bbq chicken salad and he gets the blackjack steak.  they have these delicious crossaints with all this glaze...i could eat the glaze with a spoon!  it also helps that we love some of the waitresses there....we've booked them too!  now we're deciding on the menu.  it should be a fun and delicious time!

we booked our honeymoon cruise a couple weeks ago.  we decided it would be easiest to fly down to florida...eventhough johnathan enjoys the drive.  johnathan and i have never flown together before so this will be our first.  we found the flights we wanted and finally booked them this morning!  i'm a big procrastinator when it comes to booking flights.  i've only flown one other time and that was to hawaii.  after that flight, this short trip will be a piece of cake.

i sure hope johnathan's prepared to hold my hand during take off/landing and listen to my nervous chatter.  who am i kidding?  he'll probably be asleep....

bridesmaid's dresses...check!

i received the email from david's bridal this morning!  jenn and leah's dresses are in which means all of the bridesmaid's dresses are here!  now we just have to get them altered!  we have all the shoes too.  i'm so happy to have that taken care of!  now to get the boys to order their tuxes!

i just recently started thinking about what i would wear for our rehearsal.  i wasn't too concerned.  as much as i shop, i figured i'd eventually come across something!

the other night, i was reading one of my us weekly magazines.  i always love looking at what the stars are wearing eventhough i can't afford most of it!  i came across the issue's "who wore it best?" section.

i think chelsea kane and charlotte ross look the cutest in this dress, but that's just my opinion!  anyway, i really fell in love with this dress!  it's a little bit white but then the skirt is fun and shiny with golds and silvers.  i was really surprised when i read the caption and saw that the dress was from ann taylor loft!

now ann taylor loft is not usually on my list of stores to go to.  not because i don't love their clothes...i just have a hard time paying $60-$100 for 1 thing....especially a shirt.  i usually only stop by to check out the clearance rack.  so after researching this dress online, i went out to crabtree mall to see if i really liked it.  it was even cuter in person and fit really well!  what made it even better was the loft had everything 40% off!  i definitely snatched this dress up!  it'll make a cute "teacher dress" but i'm most excited to wear it on october 21!

the next step was finding shoes.  i wanted some kind of nude pump like the girls are wearing in the magazine.  i found some cheap ones online but i'm scared to order shoes without trying them on.  when jenn and i went to purchase her bridesmaid shoes, we also looked for pumps.  i found one pair but of course they didn't have my size.  once again, i wasn't too worried.  i have till october!  i was at target today and glanced at their shoes and found a pair of nude pumps!  go figure....even for special occasions, i'm a target girl!  here's a pic!

bridesmaids gifts....check!

i've been planning out my bridesmaids gifts for awhile.  i've been searching for different pieces and with bridesmaid, jenn's help yesterday, finally found what i've been looking for!  i got crafty today and finished them up!  until i give them out, i can't post pics on here.  so until then, here are a few cute ideas i've seen online.

i first told johnathan that he could go casual with a button down shirt and khaki pants.

he didn't seem too interested in the idea.  he said he'd rather wear a tux.  a tux would probably be a better choice since the boutonierre we've ordered needs something stable to pin to.

i kind of like the idea of khaki suits with lavendar ties.

if we're going with regular tuxes, i like the idea of johnathan having all white and the guys having black.

something blue

right after johnathan and i got engaged, i began looking through lots of bridal magazines.  i stumbled across a pair of shoes that i really loved!  after lots of googling by johnathan's mom and i, no one had the exact style from the magazine.  i guess everyone else loved them too!  i found this style instead that i still think is cute!

my favorite part about them is that they're blue on the bottom.  one has a crystal "i" and the other has "do".  how cute is that?  it's going to make for a really fun picture!  i need to get some gel inserts cause i know my feet are going to hurt.  beauty is pain sometimes!

shoes for my girls

my bridesmaid, sarah, found these sandals on a shopping outing one day.  she thought they'd be cute for the bridesmaids.  she showed them to me and i thought they were really cute too!  i wanted something flat since we'll be outside and it's beachy.  they are silver and the straps have sparkles!  i showed my matron of honor, leah and bridesmaid, jenn online and they both liked them too.  leah was the 1st to purchase them and she took this lovely picture for me!  i hope we can find everyone's size before the summer season is gone!
